Ty Mawr farmstay is ideally situated high on the hills of the peaceful hamlet of Bethania in Mid West Wales. Aberystwyth
In Aberystwyth you can indulge in the unique mountain scenery when you take the Vale of Rheidol Railway trip to Devil’s Bridge, famous for the latest TV series “The Hinterland”, the coal fired steam locomotive and vintage carriages take you on a spectacular train ride as you watch the countryside change as you wind up through wide open fields, ancient woodlands and the rugged mountains scenery, this is a train ride not to miss. Aberystwyth is just 20 minutes away from your farmstay.
Aberaeron
This beautiful Georgian-styled seaport with its famous colorful houses is only a 15 minute drive from our front door. You can enjoy many places to eat different cuisines from around the world as well as the National Trust’s Llanerchaeron Estate which is only 10 minutes down the road.
Tregaron
Driving inland from the farmstay is the Welsh speaking market town of Tregaron, surrounded by some of the most spectacular and unspoiled scenic routes in the whole of Wales. Take home a piece of hand crafted and unique Celtic design jewellery, designed and crafted by Rhiannon Evans who is recognised worldwide for her Genuine Welsh Gold alloy, which includes 10% gold guaranteed to have come from the Meirionnydd goldfields in Wales. Tregaron also offers the traditional trotting races in the summer where you can enjoy the events of a memorable day. While in Tregaron why not take the scenic road to Pontrhydfendigaid along the B4343 where Strata Florida is located, where you can explore the ruined monastery of Strata Florida dating back as far as 1164.
Cardigan Bay Coast Road
A short 20 minute drive west you’ll find yourself on the Cardigan Bay Coast Road, taking in the Ceredigion Coast Path which offers excellent walking tracks to explore. The regency harbour town of Aberaeron will charm you with its multi-coloured houses, harbour views and intriguing shops, cafes and of course indulge in what maybe the best fish and chips in Wales. The National Trust mansion of Llanerchaeron in the verdant Aeron Valley is well worth a visit too, taking in the splendid gardens and the mansions historic decorations.
Cambrian Mountains
For the more adventurous, there is the Cambrian Mountains offering a wilder landscape to explore or take in the tranquil atmosphere of The Teifi Pools.
Fantasy Farm Park
Something for the children to do is our very own Fantasy Farm Park which is only a short 10 minute drive from the farmstay. Fantasy farm fun park is a family adventure park for all ages to enjoy, interacting with the animals, fun water rides and go karts, bouncy castles and indoor soft play, tractor rides and bucking bull rides. Fantasy farm also has a cafe/restaurant, but picnics are welcome in the park if you wish to bring your own.
Cycling
If cycling is what your interested in then there are three 13 mile cycling routes in this area for you to enjoy, taking in the forest views this ride 12.5 miles long or the valley ride 13.5 miles round trip or the red kite ride of 13.0 miles.
As you can see there is so much to see and do in a short distance from the farmstay, so we are ideally located in a beautiful part of Wales.
